Dosunmu signs with NBA’s Bulls
The Bulls chose the 6-foot-5 guard with the 38th pick following a stellar three-year college career with the Illini. Dosunmu was the first true freshman in program history to lead Illinois in scoring, averaging 13.8 points per game in 2018-19. He capped his time in Champaign with a consensus first team All-American nod as a junior in 2020-21. (James Boyd, Decatur, Ill., Herald & News)
Notre Dame picks starting QB: Wisconsin transfer Jack Coan is Notre Dame’s starting quarterback, coach Brian Kelly announced in a Twitter post. Coan started for Wisconsin in 2019, leading the Badgers to the Big Ten title game. He completed 70% of his passes and threw for 2,727 yards and 18 touchdowns two seasons ago.
Coan suffered a broken foot before last season’s Big Ten schedule began and did not play, losing the job to Graham Mertz. Coan transferred in the offseason to Notre Dame and succeeds long-time starter Ian Book, who was drafted in the fourth round by New Orleans. (AP)
