NFL DFS, Preseason Week 3: Optimal DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy football picks for Saturday, Aug. 28
The 2021 NFL preseason heads towards a conclusion with six more games on Saturday. The NFL DFS player pool will be a bit lighter after Saints vs. Cardinals was cancelled due to Hurricane Ida. Still, the other games provide plenty of intriguing NFL DFS picks as some teams play their starters to get a final dress rehearsal, while others are looking more at the back half of their rosters. Justin Fields is getting the start for Chicago against the Titans, while Tennessee will rotate backups Matt Barkley and Logan Woodside.
Can any of those quarterbacks provide value for your NFL DFS lineups on Saturday? Or should you look elsewhere in the NFL DFS player pool for a signal caller that can provide a strong return on investment on FanDuel and DraftKings? Before locking in any 2021 NFL preseason DFS picks for Saturday’s slate, be sure to check out the NFL DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy football picks from SportsLine’s Scott Engel.

On Monday, Engel had Saints quarterback Jameis Winston as one of his top picks FanDuel and DraftKings. The result: Winston went 9-of-10 passing for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Anybody who had Winston in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Top Friday NFL DFS picks for Week 3
For 2021 NFL Preseason Week 3 on Saturday, Engel is high on Chargers running back Larry Rountree III at $6,000 on FanDuel and $5,500 on DraftKings. Rountree is fighting for a spot on the Chargers running back depth chart, so he’ll be eager to impress against the Seahawks on Saturday.
Los Angeles struggled to run the ball against the 49ers last week, rushing for just 53 yards as a team. Rountree finished with 12 rushing yards on eight carries, but he proved to be a reliable pass catcher by catching all four of his targets for 15 yards in the 15-10 setback against San Francisco. Now, he’ll look to take advantage of a Seattle defense that is giving up an average of 25 points per game this preseason.
Part of Engel’s optimal NFL DFS strategy also includes rostering Fields ($6,000 on FanDuel, $5,500 on DraftKings), who will start Saturday’s preseason game against the Titans. Chicago’s rookie signal caller has completed 23-of-39 passes for 222 yards through two preseason games with one touchdown and one interception, plus nine carries for 76 yards.
The Bears have already named Andy Dalton their Week 1 starter, which means Fields will need a strong showing to put pressure on Dalton. Fields has the perfect opportunity to impress against the Titans on Saturday. Tennessee has given up just six points through its first two preseason games, so Fields will be eager to show he has all the tools needed to be Chicago’s No.1 signal caller.
How to set Saturday NFL DFS lineups for Week 3
Engel is also targeting a player who could go off for massive numbers on Saturday because of an abundance of playing time. This pick could be the difference between winning your tournaments and cash games or going home with nothing. You can only see who it is here.
