Chicago (WLS)-Illinois Public Health Service officials confirmed 670 new COVID-19s on Monday as Chicago Mayor Lori Wrightfoot is expected to provide updates on COVIDs on Tuesday. We reported 4 possible cases and 4 associated deaths.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, there have been a total of 1,402,763 COVID cases, including 23,377 deaths in the state.

The state-wide preliminary test positive rate for the 7 days from July 12th to 19th is 2.8%.

Vaccine trials for children are underway, and doctors hope that the vaccine will be available to children aged 6 to 12 by late fall and children under the age of 6 by winter.
